Frequently Asked Questions

What are the charges for sessions at the Elite Clinic ?

Ongoing therapy sessions are charged at €80 per one hour session, first sessions are normally expected to last approximately two hours. We will be happy to email you details of our fees for other treatment packages such as Stopping Smoking or Gastric Mind Band treatments.

How successful is the treatment ?

The success rate of the treatment provided at the Elite Clinic meets and often exceeds normal levels of expectations. However different problems present different challenges and each client is of course an individual and will approach therapy from their own start point with their own beliefs. The determination of someone to want change in their life will always be the critical factor and control the final outcome of the treatment.

Would my treatment for cocaine / alcohol addiction be confidential ?

Regardless of what treatment a client comes to the Clinic for we guarantee the utmost confidentiality. "Strict client - therapist confidentiality is adhered to at all times. Information regarding the client or treatment undertaken will under no circumstances be divulged to any party without the exclusive written permission of the client (or if appropriate the client's parents or guardian)."

Can Elite help with other problems such as Panic Attacks, or Phobias such as a Fear of Flying ?

Elite offers treatments for a wide range of problems: for a full list of the more common ones we treat, visit the Problems page. All new potential clients are invited to the clinic for a free of charge, non-obligatory, initial consultation and assessment for suitability of treatment.

I suffer from panic attacks - how many sessions would I need and how often ?

It is normally the first question new clients asks. Every client is different, of course, and so are his or her problems. There is no textbook answer; we can however confirm that the average number of sessions clients required for the cessation of Panic Attacks at the clinic in 2012 was 11. Obviously this depends on various factors, including the age of the client, the presenting problem and how long the person has suffered with it etc. All of this will be discussed in detail during the initial consultation. For more information regarding the treatment of Panic Attacks please email us.

Will my therapist be male or female, and may I bring a friend along ?

Which therapist you see normally depends on the problem being treated, as we each try to specialise in certain fields, however we always try to accommodate individual requests when possible. Friends or family members of clients are, of course, always welcome; in fact most new clients bring someone with them for their first session, after which they seem happy and relaxed enough to come for future sessions alone.

How can this type of therapy help with IVF treatment ?

Recent medical research has claimed that Hypnotherapy can double the success rate of IVF treatment. The Chinese noticed several thousand years ago that women who had difficulty conceiving often had an underlying emotional issue preventing conception. Modern studies have now confirmed that psychological and emotional blocks can and often do create infertility issues.

As an example a team from Soroka University, Israel, found that in a control group, 28% of women who were hypnotised became pregnant, compared with 14% of those who were not. The study of 185 women was presented to the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology conference in Berlin.

What is Cognitive Behaviour Therapy ?

Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) is probably the therapy method that most people are aware of. Its use has become the treatment of choice by many within the medical profession, in fact now virtually every NHS hospital in the UK has their own in-house facility, as do some GP practices. It has been used to successfully treat everything from Panic Attacks to Fear of Flying, from Depression to Phobias.

As you would expect, CBT combines cognitive and behavioural techniques. The therapist often takes on the role of a trainer, teaching client's techniques and strategies, which they can then use to overcome their problems. Whilst it may sound simple in its use, CBT can produce rapid results over a very wide spectrum of complaints. As a therapy it is both educative and problem orientated, and the sessions very structured. TactileCBT® is a new addition to this therapy sector.

What is Neuro Linguistic Programming ?

Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP). People who come to us in therapy typically have pain in their lives, and all therapy methods are confronted with the problem of reacting adequately to their needs. NLP offers a sometimes rapid method of helping people to undertake often-dramatic change in their lives, and change is often all the client needs. That is to be able to change from a sad outlook on life to a happy one, from a vision of doom and gloom to a future of excitement and discovery. NLP has such wide interpretations with little restrictive format that it is often of value to a very wide variety of clients.

The building of a strong and open relationship between the therapist and the client is crucial in NLP, as in most other therapies. The client needs to be treated with respect, with the therapist coming from a position of curiosity and open-mindedness. The therapist's role is to guide the client, to explore and understand the deeper structure of the problem and the benefits that change has to offer.

How does hypnosis work and can anyone be hypnotised ?

Hypnosis is commonly described as an altered state of awareness, which we all actually experience naturally at least twice per day - just as we are waking up, and again as we are about to fall asleep, and also if you find yourself daydreaming whilst relaxing at any time, you can be described as being in a hypnotic trance.

When a person is in a relaxed state the conscious mind switches off and the subconscious mind becomes highly receptive to positive and beneficial suggestions. It takes us a long time to develop habits such as smoking or overeating, but through hypnosis our subconscious mind can easily be reprogrammed, so that we quickly form new habits, new feelings and a new self-image.

Virtually anyone who is willing to be hypnotised can be. Hypnosis is not recommended however for children under the age of 6, because of the need to focus and concentrate; it is also not suitable for anyone who has epilepsy, or is suffering from a depressive illness, taking major tranquillisers, or who is mentally unstable.

Are the sessions only conducted in English ?

At the moment all sessions at the clinic are conducted in English, although we have treated many clients of various nationalities, whose knowledge of the English language has been good enough for this not to pose any problems. If English is not your first language and you have any concerns about whether your level of understanding is sufficient, then please don't hesitate to ring or call in to meet us and have a chat first.

Do you undertake home visits ?

In addition to seeing private clients at the clinic Martin and Marion regularly undertake private home visits both nationally and internationally, please call or email to discuss availability and fees.
